When u do a cup like this the more easy way is to do it with spline and lathe, u do a side view of the cup with spline adn apply the modifikator, its more faster and easy). To set up a scene for a single cup is very hard, but to put a cup in a empty scene is bad), u should try to do a scene with the cup standing on a table, the light is wrong, can u show us the lightning setup, i mean the scene and the lights there)
