Yes, you are definitely improving. Her clothes came out rather successfully, but work on her black top and the...uhm... bra. Or, try to envision how should the lines be from this given perspective. The line between her arm and the right side of her torso is set too inwards. So if you move it to the left a bit, the elbow of her right arm will be hidden and this might improve the feel of perspective. And you might aswell do some retouching on her legs a bit... some minor shading on her knees should do the trick. Other than that, you´re going the right way. ![]()

errr actually she aint wearing a top hahahahah I forgot to give her one hahahaha, the thing about shading is the scanner messes it up, the original looks ok but its hard to draw for how the scanner copies images. I actually want her elbow, showing as I feel its a little detail that adds to what she is doing with her arm as I don't want it to float but i will try what you have suggested. Just waned to explain the motives behind the posture. I'm improving and I have thought about it, wish I had years of experience under my belt to give me extra depth and resonance in my work. But with you tutilage, I'll get there hahahaah

"Foreshortening" I am not great at drawing realistic humans (some day...), but I know that in figure drawing from my high school, they attempted to teach us "foreshortening". You have used foreshortening on your character's right arm. It looks more visually pleasing, than say, your character's right leg, which does not have much foreshortening. Here are some helpful links on foreshortening, which might help you better judge the size of a body part in relation to it's distance from the viewer/camera. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspective_(graphical) http://drawsketch.about.com/library/blforeshorten.htm http://mysite.verizon.net/resomh74/ForeS.htm Last edited by The_Head; 28th March 2007 at 01:17 PM.

thanyou 'the head' had a quick look at those sites and really need to get a plate of biscuits and a cup of tea, then sit there and study the information. I do hear what you're saying and thank you, when it boisl down to it, its practice and practice to get it just right. Thats why I am doing as much drawing as I can over the next 3 weeks that are left of my holiday, wish I had a timecapsule like the one in Dragonball Z hahahahahaha

Hehe cool, I've been thinking about developing a chamber like that in my basement, I'll send you my plans when finished Mwah-hahaha! I failed to mention before that this is great for how you said you put it together, definately a good concept drawing for a character. If you were to refine the character by redrawing it, while using the concept art as additional reference, you'll get something even greater. Go for it, I anticipate seeing your work in the next 3 weeks! And that's not only because I want to see you draw more topless elven cuties. ![]() Oh! I know a tip to help you scan pencil drawings. The reason why the shading gets messed up, is because the pencil lead is reflective. Go to an office supply store, and purchase matte finish acetate (or matte finish transparencies). If for some reason matte is not transparent, then maybe semi gloss. Lay a piece on your scanner's glass, then your drawing behind it. When you make your scan, a bit more of your shading is not washed out by reflecting light. I used to do that for customers when I worked for Kinko's. It's not perfect though, of course. Do you scan these drawings in greyscale? If so, scanning in color and then converting to greyscale can pick up more shading. Last edited by The_Head; 28th March 2007 at 03:35 PM.
