In regards to the "Moving Bezier Handles". To change the constraint plane simply press F8. It'll cycle through the planes. I've never had much luck just using the mouse to change it. If you just click the vertex then press F8 until you see the plane you want, then adjust the handles.

Tessellate.
Tessellate can really help you out if you want to add more faces/edges/polygons to your model. To Tessellate convert your model to and editable poly. and from the modifiers list select "Tessellate". you can also use "Tessellate" to smooth your editable poly too. If you put the Tessellation Tension. to 0 the modifier will not smooth your model. But if you do put in a number like 15 it will smooth your model. If you change the iterations of the Tessellate modifier you will have more polygons in your model.
Well there you go you can fool around with the Tessellation options to find which option is right for you.
1st image without tessellate modifier on.
2nd image with tessellate on tension: 0 iterations to 4.
3rd image with tessellate and tension set to 30. and iterations set to 4.

Archiving max files to share
Best way to zip your files for sharing so that everything in the max scene is included in your zip file is to

1. select File
2. Archive

Re: Tip of the day.

When I discovered this I wanted to kick myself. I'm sure other people have felt like that and I don't mean have they felt like kicking me hahahahahaha.

Ok here it is, have you ever wanted to create manga hair for characters? I have many times and thought about all the different ways of doing it and couldn't come up with what I wanted.

The whilst reading a book thats reviewed inthe books section on 3DS max 6 for windows, I was going through some of the basics. Well when you begin to learn something new, you take in a lot of information and some stick but a lot doesn;t and we end up missing a fair bit.

Creating Manga hair
1. Well basically by now most of you must be able to create simple curved smooth line using a spline.

2. selct the polygon on the surface you want the Manga hair to grow on, on the roll out, select extrude from spline. Increase segments to smooth it, add taper and twists to taste and voila. manga hair. if you click polygons that are mext to each other then the extrusions merge.
