Unhappy a very big help needed!!

i used to work using revit from autodesk. and it was good but not good enough. then i started working on 3ds max and it is fantastic.

BUT!!

the only problem i'm facing is how to create a cross section for example over the whole site. in revit i create a section line and it will do the work. almost same thing with sketchup. but no 3ds max.

so is there a way to do it. or a script or something!!

please help me as soon as you can.

in the first picture uou should be able to se a section line that i draw to tell the software (revit) to make a section there.

the pther picture shows the section which later i could render it as it is or even in a 3d sectional view.

but revit capabilities in rendering isnt as far as 3ds max and all the people around me uses revit so i had to raise the competition and used 3ds max which did the trick but no sectional views till now.

so if any one could help me with this matter i would be really very grateful.

thanks so far for listening.

I am not too sure exactly what you want, even after reading the post.

But possibly a simple way for a cross section (albeit not the cleanest way) is once you are happy with the building. Form it into one object. Use either "QuickSlice", or if that proves too difficult, use your "SlicePlane" tool and just adjust it accordingly.

Now I know this will not achieve nearly your desired results, and there are far better methods out there. But for a quick fix, I can't think of anything else without max in front of me.

Hope this has given you some hope.

it did gave me hope i've tried your way and it's good in a way. and i'm deeply thankful for it.
the problem is when the project has many object windows, doors, buildings, terrains and many more things, i have to do it for every category by itself and try to match them with each other to get the best results.

so does any one have a less time consuming way.

use the slice modifier, if you seach postings already submitted there was a question raised about animating a house appearing out of nowhere from ground up and I think there were many suggestions, one of which was to use the slice and cap modifier in the stack.

worth finding the thread because the solution is animated, sorry was a while ago and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet lol

Are you talking about the loft command where you produce a 3d object from a cross section type deal?

no. it's when you have an object or in my case a whole project and you wont to cut it in half for example to show a section of the project. like when i want to show the grading of the project the hights of the walls and other things but also rendered.
