Importing lots of objects into max

Is there anyway to import high volumes of objects in .3DS into max? Through import it only lets one object at a time!?

There isnt any way that I know of...although ive never really had to import a large enough amount of objects to warrant trying to find a way.

i think there is a way to to xref large number of objects from various files.in case u dont know wat xref is,xref makes reference to the original files that contain the objects u created.so if u want to include some objects from some other files in ur scene, then u could xref those objects into ur scene.
note that any change u make to ur original files containing the objects that u xrefed will produce change in the scene in which u referenced those objects.and i think its a good thing as this will make inventory management and object synchornisation alot easier when working on large projects....i highly recomment u to give it a try.
i hope this all makes some sense

hi

well unless u know u know how to write a maxcript ur self, i suggest u search for one the net, that would let you batch import all the files within the same folder,

yeah and am not sure if xref would actually let u imprt multiple files in to max even though i have never tried it

Well, there are always macro recorders. Only if for some reason you can't find a batch import script like Walwop said, or xref objects like robinmitra1 said.

Here's something that might fancy your interest
Its a visual script, that will import all the Importable objects from a folder

I tested the MAX4 script out in MAX 9, it should should in any version above it
Just run it, and choose the folder with all your models you want to import

Imports all the known local formats from any
folder to your current scene.

I am not responcible for importer plugin issues.
I just made it faster to get your stuff in.
