save for earlier version...

Hello everyone!
I need some help.
Does anybody know how can I save a max file for previous version of the program?
I have to open a 3Dmax 2008 file in 3Dmax 9...and I couldn't find a way so far.
Thank you.
mila

well i dont know if this is what u mean, but you could export it to a .3ds format. That will import to version of 3ds max and some other programs.

Yeah that would probably be the best way to go, you lose some control but it's simply not possible to open newer files in older max versions, the other way around does work usually..
