Tiling problem....can someone assist the newbie??

Hi all,

Noob here! I'm working on a little project at the moment and having some problems getting a grass material to tile properly. I've used UV mapping alot in the past, but this is a new problem for me - I'm hoping that there is some simple solution that I'm just overlooking! I keep getting these thick lines in my render, like it's not tiling properly, but I'm not doing anything differently....anybody know what might be causing this, or how to solve it? I tried adding noise to the diffuse map but then the grass loses all detail. I'm using 3ds Max 2009 Design, MR renderer.

Pic attached.

Thanks in advance guys!
Paul

I think the texture is good though - It is seamless, and it looks good close up, just when it gets into the distance it goes bad....

hmm... it almost seems like you have a bump map on.
You could also try using fewer tiles perhaps.

You're right, it does look like a bump map, but I've double checked and there's nothing on there. I can get around the problem this time by cloning it out in Photoshop, but I'd love to fix it so I can use it in the future....

Hmm... the watermarked version is not really looking seamless.
Perhaps try this one Free Textures, Tileable Textures - OneOddDude.net with your setup and tell us if you still got this nasty look
