Two versions of Edit poly?

why are they two versions of edit poly, 1. without subdivisions and the other with? When you convert a primitive you get the first, when you collapse a stack you get the second.

well its what I did, not that anything I do surprises me anymore hahahaha

there are two versions, yes, modeling wise they're nearly the same except for the subdivision, but you can do that with a turbosmooth modifier as well.
The advantage of the edit poly modifier (not the editable poly) is that it allows you to use it multiple times, this will make your model cleaner, because you can turn modifiers on and off you can turn certain modeling changes you did on and off, for example a few chamfers.

true true, yer I get it, I prefer edit poly modifier just for that reason, but never thought about the advantages till now. now i can see why people prefer and love the MAx modifier stack.
