Abstract room (greeble + wirebundler test)

Hey everyone. I'm not sure how to proceed with this. Got any tips? I thought that there are too many reflections, I will reduce the reflection amount on the walls so that the ball is about the only thing that reflects anything and the walls only reflect slightly. Any other suggestions? What material to make the wires to be?

I actually quite like them in white, but how about maybe a translucent white (sort of thick walled) with pinkish goop being pumped into the sphere?
I think you are right about a few too many reflections too.

and not enough global illumination, its a lovely model, quite jealous of the concept would make agreat entry for http://www.cgsphere hehehehe. I agree with doofus, perhaps a different concept for the tubes make them more labaratory looking like drip or feed tubes but thats just our ideas. you did ask hahahahaha

but not enough light to let you see everything, you have to imagine that if it was a still image from a scifi movie as the director you would want to show more not hide more.

great camera angle and compositions but I'm sure you could spoil use with more choices? I love the simplicity and the beauty of it, nice, very nice.

Looks interesting, the lights are a bit strange though, they just sit there, don't look very real.. maybe try adding some glow to them!?!

Good idea Ivan, thanks! I'll try that out.

Geldslaw, are you high or something? All the laughter

Jelmer, there will be glow added to the lamps, there are self illuminating boxes there but I had GI turned off so they didn't emit any light. GI will be on in the final render most probably.

Here is the latest render, didn't change much, just turned the reflections on walls / floor / ceiling own. I think it looks better this way.

yeah, it does look a lot better, my eyes tend to focus more on the sphere now. Maybe you could blur the reflections a little bit too?

How do you blur reflections?

depends on the renderer you're using, with the latest versions of mental ray you can decrease the glossiness, 1 = perfect sharp reflection 0 = very much blurred reflection, I think Vray will behave in a similar way, for older versions of max there are certain shaders which have a 'reflection blur' parameter.
