Did I improve a little?

Hello mates,

I didn't post for a while as I was really busy and trying to learn things here and there.

I think I somewhat improved but I'd like to get the opinion of the community.
It's really hard to cover all the "fields" (rendering, modeling, texturing,...)
and get something somewhat photorealistic.

There are imperfections in these pics but just give it a look and tell me.
Enough talk, I'm waiting for your advice while going to work

Don't be too rude, I only got the soft +/- 1 month ago...

P.S: Using Vray + a studio-like environement + 3 vray lights....
P.P.S. Can u tell me why My pics are resized when uploaded?

C ya

Kevin

Bad scale?

Now that I see the pics so small, it's giving me the feeling of
a bad scale but nevertheless, I tried to keep the right measures
while modeling. Idea?

As for the table, I'll scale it up a bit too.... tomorrow.

Thx 4 ur input

P.S.: I was so happy when I first got my renders but now that I see
them more and more, I'm less ans less pleased with the results...
Do you sometimes get the same feeling?

Kevin

Hey, that looks quite cool, it's funny when you said there are 'imperfections', but in a way, 'imperfections' are actually realistic, although that's not always the case when you make imperfections by accident of course, in 3d .

I think you have improved quite a bit, the lighting looks quite good and the textures fit in well, model looks clean, one thing that looks off is NOT the scale of the model, but the scale of the texture! this is especially true for the table, try adjusting it, right now the texture looks way too big for me.

btw, the shaders are well done, keep at it, once you fix the texture scale it will look great, especially if you could build a scene around this!

Yeah, everything looks great but the scale, also, you dont have to upload them all as an attachment. upload to something like imageshack.us or photobucket.com and put the img brackets around it for a larger picture and higher res.

Once you do that, we will be able to see the image MUCH more clearly and then help you even further.

Yeah, everything looks great but the scale

Agreed

K.O. when modeling a scene or drawing anything for that matter it has to have some scale to it

put anything in the background that most people know how big that is

Sun is a good example

( That crap animation i did is a sugestive theme between stick people ( You been warned ))

Thx 4 ur input guys.
I get the point with te scale, as I already was aware of that.
I'll upload the tweaked results on imageshack to get a better view.
Now, thx for the animation Drag00nSlayer, I had to laugh, it's funny.

I understand what you say but what if the client doesn't want
anything in the background. What if it has to be a studio-like photo?
Any advice 4 this?

thk u all

Thank's for the laugh

Another thing that you can try
Maybe find a better wood texture that shows more grain texture

This one is one i made ( I don't really like it anymore. And it's nothing compared to your's )

But in this picture you can see what i mean by grain size

But in regard to what client wants

If they only want a model they will usaly be able to show some scale with how it's published or whatever they do with it

Defiantly if it's for a game

Magazine they almost always tell the dimension of the object
in the text

But in the furniture i made i had no reference to scale either

http://gallery.silgrad.com/thumbnails.php?album=19

Stuff tagged with xchaosdragon666x is the stuff I made

( yes my stuff sucks but what can i say It was modeled in MilkShape and later rendered in max so control's were just not as tight in milk so hard to arrange things IMO)

Talking Better?

Thx for ur answer. Now, I want to keep this texture as I spent some time finding it and it's the one that approaches the best to the reference I've got.

I scaled things up a bit then played a little with the tiling.
Tell me what you think. Better?

I know that lighting could be a bit brighter but my goal here is to
get pics of each furniture in order to check if they are worth
putting in a whole scene.

Oh btw, I got an account at Imageshack (pretty easy and cool to use)

I'll try to show you each furniture I come with before assembling them
to make (at least try to) a realistic interior scene. I'll keep posting...

C ya later

Looks pretty good, the texture scale is a lot better now, but i'm not sure about the direction of the grain, for example, the left door has a different one than the right door, if you apply uvmapping (box) and then unwrap uvw it's easy to fix though, lighting is quite good I think, maybe the table floats a little bit.
