Re: My First 3D scene incredible render scene and render there arnt any big problems, just a couple oversights maybe. one thing that caught my attention is the couch, the texture seems a bit "blotchy." Second thing I noticed is the picture out of the window, very low res. and of course the noise is a nuisance. Im not to sure about the reflections on the floor, it looks like the whole picture is reflecting when it should only be things above the skyline(unless its the tree) not sure if that is the case here or not. great job for your first scene, where are ya going to college?

Re: My First 3D scene Thanks Daklol Yeh, Ive been meaning to change the image on the window, seemed ok when I started doing test renders, but its looking worse as my renders get better. As for the couch??? I have no ideas why it does that, It didnt always, seems to do it more as the FG and GI settings increased??? I also noticed there is a great deal of reflection coming from the beams on the ceiling. Any opinions? The reflection on the floor is of the whole image. How can I limit the reflection to things above the skyline? I studied in Australia

Re: My First 3D scene looks very nice VERY good starting point, to fix the blotchyness of the chair + the niose you need to increase the number of photons in the render menu. if I were u Id also put some sort of frame by that window as its pretty huge it may look better as some patio doors possibally

Re: My First 3D scene Great start, just some render settings and a different background image could make it perfect. What version of max are you using, mental ray feautures have changed quite a bit since max9 so settings might be different then.. I would decrease the reflection on the beams, they reflect quite much there because of the angle relative to the camera, if you would look straight at them they won't reflect at all (this effect is called "fresnel reflections"). I think you're using area lights, you could increase the samples that will probably get rid of the noise in the upper left corner.

Re: My First 3D scene It'd look rather harmonic with the stone wall. But then again, using huge pictures as a wallpaper is somewhat old-fashioned (it was quite popular some fifteen or more years ago.) Never the less, I like your design: its warm and cozy in a functionally modernistic way. Last edited by Motammad; 27th November 2007 at 06:40 PM.
