Nice I should do that tutorial also did you use a special material for the asteroid? I really didn't get a good look at it.

well done mate, it looks pretty convincing, one thing i would change is the movement, it seems to decrease just before the laser? hits it which is strange, you would expect it to have a more constant speed because no forces influence it right? The other strange thing are the near white particles at the end of the animation, i think they would also move away fast and only some dust might remain maybe?
With a few small adjustments it should really look great.

Is it just me or does the laser not move from the center of the asteroid? It looks like it's there after the explosion.

looks good,, know also this tutorial from max =),, the only thing what u should change is the speed of the asteroid he should move little slowler and that he shouldnt stop after the laser hit him =),,,

I'm new to using the particle emitter, yes the laser still stays afterwards lol I'll tweak the animation later in the week when I get time, but thanks for the feedback and encouragement.

I'm currently drawing up reference material for a 'landmate' its froma tutorial in imaginfx. Kinda a transformer that I want to model and animate. I'll post up the refernce materials in the 2d sectionwhen am done, should be tomorrow night when I get back from college
