animation Logo WIP

Well I've been playing with particle fx for aprox 3 hours now and got the hang of it enough to go ahead and create a type of logo for the 3dx3 company. (Well, optimizing it, I guess) The goal here is to take 3DX3 and make it an intro to an animation portfolio for the company, kinda like Pixar has their little lamp guy playing around with the word 'Pixar." I'll be trying to create a shape that draws itself out, with "sparks" along the way. Then it's extruded, and rotated, which it'll then be existing in "3 dimensions." make sense? I'll probably explode it at the end with fire and smoke and stuff. Lol. Well here's where I'm at now.

C&C is greatly welcomed.

I'm not at all satisfied with the sparks. Those'll be changed. I'll end up slowing it down more, and slowing the lighting in the beginning down too.

that's pretty cool! there are quite a few things i really like, the movement of the letter being created is great, the particles are well done as well. There are still quite a few things you can improve though. The round shade on the surface caused by the spotlights don't look very good to me, maybe just use an omni instead. The particles look a bit dull, try adding 100% self illumination and some glow would be even better. Motion blur would help a lot as well i think!
another small thing, maybe hide the red little part of the text before the actual animation starts?
Definately a great start, refine it a little more and it is perfect.

Update: Changed the spark material completely. Added a 'flicker' in the spark. Hid the 'bit' of the letter before the animation, although in this clip not nescessary. I'm still looking into the motion blur. I haven't quite decided what to do with the lights at this point. Any suggestions?

I just did a quick google search and found http://www.spread-it.com/ ... they ask for your email addr but you can just give them a fake one. they only host for 14 days but its unlimited downloads and bandwidth.

I like that one a lot better stylistically, good job!

much better now, maybe add a skylight with 0.1 multiplier when the logo is created, so the sparks aren't the only light. The end bit is nicer as well, maybe add some colour and specularity to the model there, some camera movement might be nice as well.
