its a still image rendered and reduced in size using the microsoft office picture manger and reduced to 110x110 in saize and saved then loaded up through link when posting a comment so that its the main icon.

Did you mean the animation? True I could use a plugin then it would be the plugin doing the work and not me. At first I was always into downloading every plugin I could find but then I may as well go back to using packages where I just point and click then I won't have to make much of an effort to create anything. lol

Maya has a fire funtion built into it, I don't know why there is not one built into Max? Learning from tutorials on how to do some of the things I want gives me a headache at first but persistence and the desire to get the results keeps me going.

I feel in comparison of where I was in October, when I knew nothing, that now I know a little bit more and I'm excited at how much more I will have learned within the next few years.

It's like learning to play an instrument, I could buy cd's with all the music I like but sometimes its better to make the music yourself? May not be as good at first but the sense of satisfaction and respect from your peers and self esteem feels good.

thanks for your support, as usual this site rocks

cool burst of flame. looks like something that a lit gas pipe would emit (a low pressure one)...

btw, do you play a musical instrument?

http://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/fireball/ here's the link, I did make one change or addition, I added a gizmo for atmaspheric effect and set it to fire so there would be a constant image of fire but the aprticles would be the flames.

download the example first then and have a look at the tutorial. I've tried so many but this is much easier to follow and once you;ve done it a few times, you'll find you can set it up within minutes.

have fun
