First Exterioral Architectural Building

It's not an exciting building but it's my first attempt at an exterior since doing the FG & GI video tutorial which has opend a lot more interesting project possibilities.

true it was a quick and dirty project, its too early in my devlopment stage to create works of art that I can dream up. I wish texturing could be as easy as point and click but when I go through some of the completed Projects on some of the websites like CGTalk, and you see the qualitya and artistic workmanship that goes into to create realistic textures, my jaw drops.

Although your comment inspires and has inspired me to developing my 3DS Max texture library. When I first started using Max I learned what it was then ignored it but now I realise its the best way to organise my resources instead of having thrash my hard disk with hundreds of folders and hard drive searches for one file.

well, you should probably test your skills in texturing as well as FG & GI, seeing as textures probably come as number 2 in most important things in cg...

looks pretty nice, you're lighting skills are definitely better now! The wall texture is ok i think, but the others need work, furthermore i would try using logarithmic exposure control with 'exterior daylight' checked to adjust the brightness of the image, i think it's a little too white right now.

thank you for the compliment and thankyou for the advice. It was watching you do those renders of that room that made me realised that I wanted to do interiors and exteriors.

For my last college project I abandoned a project because I couldn't fathom the principles and develop the ability to use Fg & GI. I chose a project that had no exterior lighting as a compromise.

I got a decent mark for what I handed in but the thought that I had given up haunted me, so I took my own advice and went back to the drawing and watched your tutorial often which was the easy bit.

The hard bit was applying it. I fell in love with Maxwell because it did everything for you, and I started to use VRay because that gave great results.

But the more I read about Menalray the more I realised that its one of the most powerful and consumate renderers out there and its built in and free with MAx.

There are so many special effects in lighting, particles, built in occlusion maps in materials that you just don't get with other renderers. Also because I am not looking for a '1 click' solution and want more involvement and control over my work and a better understanding of the tools I am using, I feel I am getting closer.

I figured out what others and I like about forums like this, 'people want to see you get better and succeed' and give you lots of encouragement to achieve that success.

Thats why I keep coming back for more, thank you

Oj! forgot to put in my new pic, its a low draft but not so bright.
