that is such a nice animation, wow, loved the character, even though its short I was totally mesmerised by philly as his mouth moved I automatically started to press the volume button on my kbd thinking it was turned down.

that was inspiring, I'm glad there's more to come, there was a slight glitch in the first 3rd of the film where it seemed to jump? Is that fixable? really do love what you've achieved so far.

whats the frame rendeing time like, and which rendering engine you using, I noticed there's some specularity on the eyes, does this affect your rendering time at all, by increasing it?

You're going to put your animation through combustion or adobe aftereffects when its done, right? It deserves it? Anyways, I'm ranting, but you got me enthused about animation because I have two months to do one for college.

From what I saw in that short, I know a lot of painstaking work went into such a short production and not that I'm an expert but you;ve definately got something there. well done man. well done.

lookig forward to seeing more.

looks pretty good, i like the environment although it could use some more texture and maybe better lighting, of course you might be limited here due to rendering times. The barn roof looks a bit messed up, not sure what's wrong with it..

The animation was quite good as far as i can judge animation, although I think it was way to slow for final animation, it would be better if you had some variety in speed, sometimes anticipation can be very useful but at the same time things happening/ moving quickly can look great as well, so you should really find a balance between those two things.

thanx alot for the critism ...

@geldslaw - the glitch is fixable ...its just a "keyjumpin" ... the shining in his eyes is with raytrace material ...of course it affects on the renderingtime but it's ok ...need ca. 30sek per frame (on my shit f**** laptop =)
and YES i will use aftereffects or sth else for the finished short but not for the "mini test renderings u've seen.

@the environment i'm going to try a good render for the surrounding /with the barn etc... and then i would use it as an texture in the background-know what i mean? but my problem is to create a nice blending between the background and the "live" 3d stuff ...

@animations ..the animation NOW was just to see if the body is rigged well or not...nevertheless thx for the hints

hmm yeah blending in the background can be pretty difficult i imagine, i would probably model part of the terrain around the 'stage' of the animations and then just decrease the level of detail the further you get away from that, for an environment i would simply use a self illuminated, inverted cylinder with the environment texture applied.

Awesome! It blends in very well i think, maybe blur the background just a bit (more)? To improve the lighting you could try adding a skylight with a low intensity, if that doesn't 'hurt' rendering time too much, keep going!

cool, the environment looks spot on in the animation and the lighting is well done as well!

The animation is a bit messy, especially the intersections with the ground are annoying, but of course you know that as well. Another thing you should definitely work on is some emotion on the face .

Camera movement is quite good, maybe a bit too clean, a slight bump/shake might make the animation more natural.
