Another thing that you can try
Maybe find a better wood texture that shows more grain texture
This one is one i made ( I don't really like it anymore. And it's nothing compared to your's )
But in this picture you can see what i mean by grain size
But in regard to what client wants
If they only want a model they will usaly be able to show some scale with how it's published or whatever they do with it
Defiantly if it's for a game
Magazine they almost always tell the dimension of the object
in the text
But in the furniture i made i had no reference to scale either

( yes my stuff sucks but what can i say It was modeled in MilkShape and later rendered in max so control's were just not as tight in milk so hard to arrange things IMO)
