Custom portfolio?

I used to own my own graphics design site, and created my own module that allowed registered users to have their very own portfolio, kind of like DeviantArt. What do you think about developing something like that here? Where users of the forum can have their own gallery of work? With comments and such? If it's already here and I don't see it, let me know, lol.

Yeah, it would allow users to upload their images and then place them in any order and what not, so the space factor might be an issue. But let's see what Jelmer says :-D

hmm I'm afraid that will be very difficult, I'm quite good at html, css and that kind of basic stuff, but when it comes to PHP and mySQL i have very little experience, and i'm pretty sure that's what i'll need...

If anybody around here does please contact me, I also really like this idea but it will be difficult to achieve, at least on my own.
If you know somebody who might be able to help you can refer him to me as well, i could also pay for it.
Space isn't really an issue i think, there's enough bandwidth and space available, so that isn't really a concern.

What exactly are you trying to include? The syntax for an include statement is simple
Code:
include( url here );Are you tallking about creating a template, and then including the text from a different file? I've had about 3 years PHP, HTML, CSS experience...let me know.

maybe he could help?

I am also waiting on someone to email me, my friend referred me to him. I'll let you know on msn what he says Jelmer.

Great idea!

Hey ECG!

Sorry its been so long since I've been around but recently I installed Vista (bad idea) and played with it for about 3 days... After waisting all that time I am back to good old xp pro with 3dsm up and running... So, I'm back. Anyway I think this sounds like a great idea and I might be able to assist in making it possible. I've made many sites with php and sql and have fun doing it. Although I am not sure I could do it all by myself I would be more then happy to offer what I can!

Aloha,
Erik

Yeah, I'd love to contribute to making something like that, it would be fun! I've done a lot of work on PHP-Nuke modules and blocks, optimizing them and creating per specific requests. I myself couldn't do it all, but I think with two - three more people we'd be able to tackle it easily. What do you think, Madclouds?
