Re: Modelling M82A1 - Barrett - sniper rifle video tutorial

very nice tutorials, thanks a lot!!
but I'm stuck right at the beginning, when you pull in the picture on the plane, the whole gun is displayed on the plane
when I do it, there's just one half of the gun on the plane (in perspective viewport) but when I render it the whole picture is displayed on the plane

what kind of problem is that? tia

Re: Modelling M82A1 - Barrett - sniper rifle video tutorial

I really have no idea what might be wrong. Does pictures display properly in top, left, front etc. view (not perspective)? For perspective viewport you don't really need blueprints.

Re: Modelling M82A1 - Barrett - sniper rifle video tutorial

First of all, thx for this great tutorial!!!! But I have a question about the first part where you add the 'mesh smooth modifier'. Before you add that modifier, you chamfer some edges. But how do you decide which edges you chamfer en which not? Do you choose those edges randomly or do you have a system to decide 'chamfer those edges and do not chamfer those edges'.

Re: Modelling M82A1 - Barrett - sniper rifle video tutorial

"the system" is simple. chamfer the edges you want to remain sharp. experiment...take a box and chamfer some edges, apply mesh smooth and see what it does. best way to learn.

Re: Modelling M82A1 - Barrett - sniper rifle video tutorial

I still have some problems with the mesh smooth part. I made a .rar with a image of the problem + the .max file itself... Can someone check it out and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thx in advance!!!
