Extaz: try to apply some smoothing groups and see if that helps at all, if nothing changes create a new thread in the 3ds max forum and post some wireframe + clay renders so we can have a better look at it.

Thumbs up Re: castle: modeling - textures - render

Looks like this thread is fairly old, going to post anyway.

Currently I am a student in MMGD and have just now been introduced to 3ds max 8 (in my program, just completed all my generals, have only seen 3ds max for about 2 days so far 1d/week). I have and use 3ds max 9 though. Now I got it because I knew I would need it eventually and I sit down and tried to model a sword, but ended up with some sorta mutated fork so I just quit working with max, figured I would wait until I had it in college.

Right now we are just learning basics to 3ds max and I have no real patience with lecture or operation principles ect ect. So I found your tutorial (Castle 1-10) and made a living room suite... sorry I have been on my laptop the last few days and I wanted to render something really small. Next I will make a castle on my desktop. I don't know if anyone else has ever had the same experience as me, but when things started clicking in my head, i don't really know how to explain it but im sure you will see shortly, as i get the concepts drawn and scanned. Kinda feels like this is what I was born to do lol.

This render is something that I completed last night before I had gotten into your later tutorials on how to uvw map and I realized that an option i could have taken for stitching on the coushins might have been to camfer -> extrude -> spherify??? not real sure.

Castle should be up in 3 days or so, as I have a concept that might take me some time to model, as for textures and a video might take a little longer.

This tutorial is by far the best thing I could have ever been introduced to and I think honestly they should just make students in college just use this tutorial in introducing students to 3ds.

Thanks for your time spent on it Jel.
