shaders, HDRI, mental ray

In this tutorial you'll learn about the material editor and how to make several different reflective materials. You'll use special mental ray shaders for realistic results and use an HDRI environment to create realistic reflections (because all the shaders we make during this tutorial use reflections).
We'll do several metals like copper, aluminium and rusted metal and to finish of use HDRI to light the whole scene with mental ray and a skylight.

I'm sorry if you cover this somewhere but some of the videos I can't view I'm kind of new and I've heard of Clay rendering and would like to use this but I can't get a good material. Can you please explain how to get a clay material. Edit: I have seen that you use a clay material in your Castle modeling tutorial this is what I'm looking for if you could tell me how to make it.

Wahoo a socom fan! welcome to the community, i have socom 3 and the psp version, i still cant get past the singleplayer levels in 3 though );

to create a good clay render, turn on mental ray, get rid of all the lights, select ambient oclusion in the diffuse maps in the material editor and apply that to all the things in the scene
