Hi!

I'm totally new to 3d modeling and this chair is my first object i've ever made.
I thought it was going pretty good, until i had to paint it.
I can't seem to find the 'Arch & Design' tab.
I hope you can help me?

Perhaps you have got the "wrong" version of 3ds max, in version 8 or below you donīt have the A&D material.
Or you did not change your renderer to mental ray. You can do this by pressing F10, choosing the "Common" tab scrolling down and klicking the three dots where it says "Production :Scanline Renderer"

My Chair

Thanks for this tutorial. I explored more 3ds Max because of this especially in materials. Thanks alot.

Looks nice, but where are the shadows? there are none at all on the floor, which makes the final render quite unrealistic.. the materials are well done, but the lighting definitely needs work, if you want to make any changes you can create a new thread in the WIP forum, more people will comment there.

"after modelling the chair as u go for applying material using architectural....materials.."from whr shud i get tht..coz i cant apply such materials..plz help me...
