Thanks for the insightful comments, Geldslaw. I just might go back to this one and touch up on it with your ideas! I didn't know about the world record being broken. I saw a bunch of youtube videos of hundreds of thousands of dominoes being knocked over - pretty cool stuff! i did come across a problem in reactor with trying to make these dominoes fall realistically. if the dominoes i posted fell in real life, it'd be over in like 2 seconds. in reactor they just didn't have the speed. I dont remember the scale I was using right off hand, but that might be a part of it - the scale of the geometry compared to weight. I really had to tweak the elasticity and friction to make them even fall in order and not bounce around. lowered collision tolerance, upped the substeps for accuracy....idk. like i said, i may have to revisit this one with a more serious approach!

I think the artistic license you took was appropriate, who cares about the reality of it, the visual effect is what it's about and what you as the director achieved. The most important aspect of it was that it was entertaining. :P and impressive enough to be of serious consideration to be what Domino Pizza could use at next years event. Get it right then get yourself an agent to sell the concept to dominoes should get you a minimum of $5000 and that's not a joke. It will give theme to promote and be associated to an event that people have enjoyed for decades. so what was fun for you is seriously 'good will' for them and in business 'good will' is worth a fortune. Look at coca cola and santa clause, there advert in the 1920's was so succesful that people believed santa clause actually wears red and white, cocal cola logo colours, such a successful advertising concept that it has become a part of everyone culture and tradtion. A small idea that ended up as part of everyones dreams ![]()

You may have been beaten to it............ ..........has anyone else seen the Vodafone Text commercial ? It's almost the same as Fisher's excellent animation.....ending with an overhead shot of dominoes falling to create the Vodafone logo....now, did you get a sneaky peak of this Fisher before it travelled across to the UK, or are Vodafone so 'on the ball' that they have stolen your idea already? Either way, nice animation, shame about the product. Regards.

WHHHHAAAT! actually, no, i didnt see that vodafone commercial. but i guess im not that surprised the idea's been used. and id be willing to bet thats not the only commercial to use the same concept! originally, i was testing out my new computer with reactor and had some X,XXX dominoes to see if it could handle it... it bogged it down and the original file got corrupted. i had opened an autobacked file and deleted a bunch of the dominoes and did a quick google search for some kind of image to apply to them for a more 'visual flair' and came across the Domino's logo. i didnt do my research on the International Commercial Database (a.k.a. youtube+google).... but im sure if the concept can sell pizzas, Domino's wouldn't mind using a recycled idea. and V for Vendetta.... hmmm. you know now that i think about it, i wouldn't put it passed me that at one point i actually DID see those commercials with all the exposure to the media. and even though i cant for the life of me remember if i did, i can def. image what they would be like. i must be going crazy.
