Two birds and a post...

Oddly enough, the first thing I ever post here is a painting, haha. Ah well...just had it at hand!

Software: ArtRage2

I'm currently in an ArtRage frenzy, since I fell in love with it about 3 weeks ago, now. I've done a number of speed paintings with it, but this one took about 5 hours, which is certainly not a speedy anymore. I havn't been trained in traditional arts, which always makes me admire every skillfully executed painting twice as much. Nor have I ever spend any reasonable amount of time to study photos or other paintings enough to have any kind of confidence. This, like almost everything I do, has been done without reference, so it's very lose in terms of realism. But I like it somehow...

Hey Taron, that looks great mate, i like the tree's and clouds in the background a lot, it has a very painterly feel to it as well! The only thing i don't like so much is the part on the right, it looks a bit like rock but it's too undefined i think, certainly if you compare it to the level of detail you've done for the trees and birds.

So you made that with out any reference or any real training in art. I for one who has been drawing forever can only say one thing, and that is WOW. I really like how you made the light shine in just that small area with the post and made all the rest kind of dark. I greatly enjoy this stile of art. Great job.

Thank you for sharing your work, its inspiring to me seeing as how I've only been drawing a short while and realise that there are not enough hours in the day to do what youi want.

I thought about what you said about doing the painting without reference; did you mean you didn't take it from eality and that it was a blend of different places? Did you make a reference sketch or just created it as you went along?

I've got millions of other questions but I'll wait hahahaha, fantastic piece of work, I love that classical tone, really nice and rich
