cool, welcome onboard, we'll lbe looking forward to helping you out as much as we possible can. It's an open and friendly community, feel free to share your opinions as they really do matter to all of us and we would like to hear what ever it is that you have to say. even if it is just something like 'that looks really coo'.

not all comments have to be technical, its a great place to make new friends and be encourage or give encouragement to other people as we all know that we get lost in locked in battle with just one more piece to finish approach. some of the challenges you face will have been faced by others many times before so feel free to ask for help because we've all been through it.

looking forward to seeing your work in progress so get posting

Hi, everyone.

Screen name is AppleShrapnel, obviously, but please feel free and encouraged to call me Michael... that's my actual name, by the way.

I've had the strong desire to get into 3d modeling and animation for several years now, but only very recently got 3ds Max 9. It took me awhile to get a computer that I felt could handle all the things I imagined myself tossing at it, and even longer to finally get the actual software... but I'm here and ready to go.

Only registered maybe 10 minutes ago, so I haven't seen any tutorials yet, but I'll be getting around to that soon. Based on the first few pages of this thread, it seems like they're just what I need.

Well anyhoo, I'm thrilled to be a part of the community, and look forward to learning everything I can.
Cheers

EDIT- So... as a complete noob to 3ds Max, where should I start? I'm talking the most basic of basics, here... don't wanna miss anything, ya know. Well, that and the whole program is pretty intimidating despite how easy AutoCAD is for me... So tips? Pointers?.. Heck, I'd take an arrowhead at this point.

Hello! I'm really trying my best to get into 3D Modelling and animation, I've always been aspired to learn it. And this site seems like the perfect place to do it.

But of course...I suck, like, I just don't seem to do things right. I'm sure as hell I'm doing them right, but my end result is a deformed...thing. I would really like to know what a good starting place would be. There are basics, but usually there's some catch to actually seeing the tutorial.

Thanks in advanced. And I hope to appear more and more on these forums as time goes on.

G'day I'm Sean (aka. Hellstormer), I've been doing 3D modelling since last year. I started it at school as a project in ICT so I could teach myself how to use 3ds max, mainly by looking for tutorials and my interest has grown exponentially since then. Currently I'm using 3ds max 9. I mainly joined this site to access the tutorials, but there's a lot of interesting stuff that I can get involved with.
Here's my recent work that I used for ICT:

Hi all.

I'm new here, so here's a quick introduction: My name is Paul, I live in the USA (originally from England). I've been working in 2D graphics for the past 5-6 years (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign/Quark etc.) Just made the transition to 3D with 3ds Max about a year ago and have started doing some arch viz work in the last few months. So I'm still pretty much a newbie, but loving 3d! I'm sure you'll see me in here quite a bit asking for advice

Cheers!
Paul
