Problems with rendering from Video Post in MAX

Hi!

I have a kinda like strange problem: when I apply a simple Lens Effects Flare filter to an Point-Helper Object (a camera is also included in the scene) and try to render (from Video Post) I get a "Application Error" message which sais that "An error has occured and the application will now close. Do you want to attempt to save..." and Max brakes down.
I used 3ds Max 9, on a 3200+ AMD Athlon (normally a 2500+ AMD-M CPU) with 2 GB RAM and a HD 2400 PRO (ATI Radeon).

Anyone experienced the same problems?
Thanx for any help!

Since my issue above I tried to build up the same scene on different workstations even using different Max-Versions and eveytime the same problem occured! Now I believe this is some kind of bug in Max!

Have you thought about replacing the point helper, with a standard omni light with the advanced setting tickboxes all turned off, so it does not change the illumination of your scene?

Hi Jake! Thanx for the hint, but even that was not succesfull. Have you tried to build the scene with the Point Helper? I mean does it render on your PC? After all it doesn't matter if it is a Point Helper or an Omni Light used as the Node Source. I remember having the same problems with 3ds max 4 a few years ago. It's just annoying not to know why this problem occurs.

Hmm, i did think that, yeah out of curiosity i gave it a go using max 8.
It seemed to work fine for me using the point helper, so i would agree with your inkling of it being a bug in max 9 perhaps.
Try getting the latest service update if you can, other than that, i can't think of anything really..

Well, the tryout with max 8 is surely the next thing I am on. But for now, the project I am working on, is nearly finished. And as we are 4 people all working with max 9 including a lot of plugins it would cost more time to convert everything than find other solutions for a sun in a space environment.
Thanx for your help Jake! Cool website and some nice work there, bro!
