hi to all the good people;

i am new to 3d max, i would like to creat an animated lake or just water for a start.
the goal is to creat a house near a lake and some grass and one singel tree.

my question is how can i creat a lake? how to animated it?

Just have a look at the tutorials forum, there are a few tutorials in which water is created.

To animate it is one step further but it's pretty easy as well. You can animate bump maps to create ripples in the water or animate a wave modifier for more linear waves.
