Autodesk XSI!

Autodesk has acquired softimage, well known for their 3d app XSI, this means autodesk is now the owner of probably the 3 most used 3d apps, 3ds max, maya and xsi.. I'm not sure if this is good for the industry, seems to be going towards a monopoly don't you think??

3ds max, XSI and maya, now all owned by Autodesk

Autodesk says they will keep developing XSI just like Maya, to me this seems a bit strange, since the 3 applicaitons do basically the same things in a slightly different workflow, I'm thinking autodesk will eventually turn this into one application, it seems logical to me, what do you think?

I suppose it is a bit of a monopoly but i dont really think it matters as you can still get the application if you want it, its just owned by another person. As for the "all in one" application, I think ithats a pretty good way to go. But then ofcource if you dont know how to use one and the ui is based on it, it will be kinda learning a new program which many people will not want to do.

if anyone invests or is thinking about investing in ADSK (NYSE), id look into this. i read about autodesk acquiring softimage.. and thought about investing more....and i might. i already have quite a few stocks in ADSK... and BAC (unfortunately, although i did sell before their dividend cut then re-invested my profit into their basic stock)..... but yea. ADSK, still thinking....

A lot of people want to invest but they dont know what to invest in. People. If you shave with Gillette razors and like them and will continue to buy them, invest in Gillette. If you like 3dS Max/Maya/and now SoftImage and will continue to buy the upgrades, invest in Autodesk. Thats as simple as it is. Invest in what you like and use and think will grow. But...with that being said and given the current financial market (US).... i heard a lot of the companies that make safes are making a lot of money because people are buying SAFES to store their money in! I guess they fear another great depression like we (US) had in 1939.... idk why im talkng about this.... iv had half a bottle of vodka and should really be getting to sleep.

p.s. i have no idea how softimage works but if i could, id love to. i guess its like girls (and before i get in too much of a rant...) you cant put all your eggs in one basket, fellas. ha!
