Alright I have got myself in a bit of a rut and I am just looking for some ideas to be bounced around, I have applied to an Architectural Studies program at my local university and I have to create a portfolio, sadly for me at least, these have to be hand drawn or hand built works of art, I am a little stumped as to what i should draw, take a picture of, or build for this portfolio and i am just looking for some ideas, here is a bit of the guideline that came with the portfolio package..
"Our expectation: We are interested in how you see (sense, scan, observe, edit, de-code, understand, internalize, frame, encode, present) the world around you; what and how you draw from yourself and the environment; if and how you make "things" through a thoughtful act of brining together materials or transforming them, making intelligent connections, achieving form, defining space and ultimately letting the "thing" either perform a function and/or be expressive of your intentions. The words "see," "draw" and "make", each in themselves, carry many shades of meanings, We encourage you to explore these meanings and arrive at a position that is most accurately expressive of you as a person.
Your response: you are asked to submit a total of five panels of flat visual material in a medium of your choice. These panels are to be in response to the expectations stated in the previous paragraph."
I realize this exercise is suppose to be heavily based on my views of whats around me, but i am still looking for other opinions to help guide my mind to a focus!
any help is much appreciated!
Thanks in advance, Eric,
