New Computer

Hey, I just bought the parts + case for a new computer but it decided to act gay. First I have a hard time with putting in the CPU vent and then when I try to boot the comp it loads for a few seconds and then shuts down. I thought my Power supply broke so I tested it but it worked. I booted the comp and everything worked fine so I went in the bios. I check the CPU fan and it says 82C so I turn the computer off immediately and I take the fan off and try to put it back in again. Then the CPU works fine and is at 22C which is good...But then something weird happened and it kept showing the boot screen then black screen then boot screen...So I turned it off and replugged the pins going from the Power supply to the motherboard and the motherboard makes a buzzing sound. I try to start the computer up and it won't startup. This is really starting to piss me off. Every time I fix something another thing breaks or decides to act gay.

If you guys know why it's doing the buzz sound please tell me.

Anyways! the specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz
NVidia GeFore 8800GT 512MB 256-Bit
2GB DDR2
250GB Hardrive.

Re: New Computer

OK breathe, don't flip out (yet), so far you are fine.

1. Did you apply thermal grease between the CPU and heatsink?

2. If your CPU's fan is not spinning at a high enough RPM, your motherboard will shut down the computer when the CPU begins to overheat. If you let yor computer sit for an hour, and turn it on again, does more time pass before it restarts?

3. What is the make and model of your motherboard? What are the specifications on the RAM the board can handle? What are the specifications of the RAM you are using?

4. Take everything off your motherboard. Unplug it all. Intstall all of the hardware again, making sure each piece is plugged in firmly and in the correct locations.

5. Did you damage your CPU or motherboard at any time? Like electrostatic discharge or something else?

6. Buzzing noise? Through your speakers, or from the computer itself? Is it a dying fan? Like maybe, a dying CPU fan?

7. Is the CPU fan rated to cool the processor you bought?

Re: New Computer

actually sounds like the motherboard has a short....you have all the jumpers set correctly right? (power button hdd light etc....) the battery is in correct?

if all is a yes id still say it was the ram as that may be shorting out the mother board

does it beep once when everything is plugged in and you turn it on??? (if not thats a sure fire way to see if your mobo is fudged)

try it without ram see if it beeps at u telling u theres an error...

then with one stick of ram

then with the other

any errors?

when u boot it up does the graphics screen come on telling u what graphics card u have? or just black screen.....if black screen try without graphics card in ....does it beep lol

its allll trial and error m8

Re: New Computer

Sorry to be such a nuisance but please refrain from using such terms as 'decided to act gay' I know its a fashionable term at the moment but to be honest we want to keep this site open and encourage people not to use 'discriminatorical terms of reference' even if not actually directed at an individual, it is in this case discriminatory against gay males and females.

This site is open to all and discriminates against none, lets keep it that way

Re: New Computer

Sorry for about that admin. Thanks a lot guys the reason why it was shutting down was because of the CPU, you guys were right I had not plugged the fan tight enough so it didnt work like it was supposed to so when it overheated it shutdown. Also I found out that I forgot to put the weird looking screws under the motherboard so I was lucky my motherboard didn't die from touching the metal case. Now everything is working fine and the power supply seems to be good enough. Again thanks a lot.

EDIT: Some pictures of the computer. I was playing Crysis on two screen just to see how it was . (Sorry for the blurred images if I took pictures with the flash you couldn't see the lights but without the flash it looks blurry).

By the way, it's on the floor because that's where I built it and I was to lazy to move that huge case :P
