Looks great to me, quad core, big screen, good video card, and quality components that should last! It's better to buy a great system once than a crappy one which fails often.. I'm sure this will render really fast, I'm looking forward to some test .

Hey Mashiach the system sounds good! im just about to set up a similar system myself I cant wait to use it and i never even thought of the faster render times Jelmer, now i really cant wait! And trust me if you have gone from a normal screen to a 22" widescreen it is an amazing change! So much more space on the programs

id have gone higher power supply just to be safe, a higher graphics card to get better output for games because cmon, games are awesome. when diabo 3 comes out, im going to take leave and plant my ass in the barracks and play that thing for days on end.... but yea, good processor for max - quad core cant go wrong, but are you having any overheating issues? if so, i might have a good cooler for you to try... 500gb storage? should be plenty if youre not downloading numerous epidsodes of your favorite shows.... i had a 500 gb hard disk once and i didnt even get close to filling it up and i had like over 100 movies, and a few seasons of family guy.... but now i have over a TB of storage and i dont know why... i mena, i guess redundancy... but even still there comes a point when redundancy is too redundant. ya kno? ive never had enough data to fill 500GB let alone 1TB... so idk. TBH, ive been thinking about buying 3 velociraptor hard disks and RAIDing them for some super-ultra-performance...just because i can... i mean... when you dont have a GF to spend your money on what can you do? buy an awesome computer.... or, if you have the money, an awesome Corvette (which i will some day have)....or........you buy a girlfriend, unfortunately. phhhh gold diggers. anywho..

22" monitor is good, im still on 19 and i think 22 is the way to go now a days... even though in a couple of years ppl will be saying, "22 inches?! NOOB!" you know... basic technological terms...

not sure about the graphics card, not sure what that one is.... ati 4850? idk. does it look good on your screen? are you happy with it? if youre cool with it and you think it loox sweet, then awesome, cheers. =)

2gb kingston ram? well.... thats good to run your aps n stuff but id consider upgrading to 4. why? because. thats about it... just because. well with win XP you only get the 3 GB.... with win Vista you get the full 4 gb usage...unless youre running XP 64 bit...then you ge the 4GB.... but you cant ever go wrong with too much memory. too much hard disk space? sure.... if you have like 20 TB, cmon, are you ever going to EVER use up 20 TB of space? fawk no. unless youre running a SAN site for a LAN then MAAAAYYYBE and even then its a MAAYYYBE. but 4 - 8 GB of memory - sure... the more the better, the more information you can put into memory, i e the more instances of WOW you can run, the more you can do with 3ds MAX. 2GB will work.... and it will do you well. 4 gb will serve you better. in 10 years, people will laugh at you if you have 8 GB of ram. they will say "GB?!?!?! LOL" "dude im runnin 128 TB DDR64" or something crazy liek that. trust you me. theyll say it. 10 years.

500W power supply... make sure its compatible with all the equipment youre running. better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it... know what i mean? better to have 500gigawatts than 1 milliwatt. so if your power supply can run the gear you have now, good on you, but if your gear is clunking along or giving your errors, consider an upgrade... but 500W should be good for what you have now. just remember if you go dual graphics cards, consider an upgrade in power supply otherwise they may not perform!

sounds like you have a good system there and you have room for upgrade in the future (which is a MEGA PLUS) should you decide to go that route. quad core is a HUGE advantage for you when it comes to rendering. think about your heatsink issues if you have any - and please respond with any overheating issues if you have any because i think i may have found the 'cure' or at least 'patch' for overheating on 4x cores. but id still like as many opinions as possible! i hope your system works out awesome for you - be sure to post your follow ups on what you like a dislike about it so anyone whos thinking about building a system like yours can get all the feedback/input they can!
