Unhappy Computer shutdown while rendering

I've had this problem sporadically for a while now, but it didn't happen often so i thought, whatever, every computer shuts down for no reason from time to time.. Now i'm having this problem more and more often though, usually while doing processor intensive things such as rendering or editing a high poly scene. Basically my computer just shuts down suddenly, and i have no idea what's causing it.
Any advice is appreciated, some computer specs:

proc: Intel pentium D, dual core, 2,66 ghz
ram: 1 gb
video: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2

more will follow... also feel free to request anything specific.

shutdown, u mean restarting,, hmm,, it can be cause temperature on your processor, chipset or graphic-card,, but try to give a look here,, "Control panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer" maybe there will be an error message and cause it, it shut down...

edit: how is your temperature in your case? =)

alright, yeah that's what i mean, well here are some stats using speedfan:
CPU: 42C
Ambient: 44C
Remote: 69C !?
HD0: 42C
Temp1: 40C

The "remote" temperature is obviously too high (this is at quite a low cpu usage), i'm not sure what is meant by remote so i'm looking at that now.
The other temps like CPU are fine i think.

yeah, it might be the power supply... ive had some trouble with restarts aswell... still do every once-in-a while but, i tried using my cousins power supply which has way more watts and everything worked smoothly and pretty much without interruption...

I am going to agree with Motammad and TE_. My friend had the same problem, though it was during gameplay. I also had this problem, and it was during rendering as well as gameplay. I had researched the error, and came up with 3 main causes, video card problem, RAM issue, or power supply unit. My friend had said he fixed his problem by replacing the PSU. I thought because my PSU was somewhat new, that it was not the problem. My video card was functioning correctly, and had current drivers. So I thought it had to be my RAM. I bought RAM, the problem still happened. I then bought a new PSU and kicked myself for not listening to my friend. It worked perfect with no problems since.

Oh btw, the "remote" temp is at the same temperature as your "power/aux" temp, 69 degrees celcius. "Power/aux" should indicate the temperature of your PSU.
