3ds max 2009, pick your flavour.

Autodesk will release two new versions of 3ds max (2009) this spring, one aimed at the entertainment industry, the other for arch viz artists and designers.

3ds max 2009 is for "entertainment professionals" and the other version called 3ds max design 2009 is adjusted for architects, designers and visualization specialists.

Some of the new features (for both versions) include new rendering techniques(called "Reveal rendering toolset"), new real world materials and better interoperability with other applications like Autodesk Mudbox.

So what's the difference between the two versions? This is what Autodesk says:
Quote:
3ds Max Design 2009 includes all features offered in Autodesk 3ds Max 2009, with the exception of the software development toolkit (SDK). The SDK is a set of development tools used in the entertainment markets to integrate software into a production pipeline and develop in-house tools to be used in conjunction with the application. 3ds Max Design also includes Exposure technology for simulating and analyzing sun, sky, and artificial lighting to assist with LEED 8.1 certification.
Autodesk anticipates that 3ds Max 2009 will be available in English during spring 2008, prices will remain the same, for both versions.

What do you think of the change in policy from Autodesk, and which version would you purchase?
