Summary of Position
As an After Effects Artist, this position will work with the Editorial and Story departments to develop timing and feeling for animated graphics as well as creating story reel animatics. This involves digitally telling the story through application of effects and adding camera movement to static storyboards. In addition to Story and Editorial leads, you will also work closely with Production Designers & Graphic Designers.

Responsibilities
- Work with Story and Editorial creative leads to create moving story board art that supports the storytelling in the reels.
- Create animated graphics for use in feature film using After Effects software program.
- Interface with Director and Editorial for delivery of animated graphics and assist in timing adjustments to animations.
- Work with Production Designer and Graphic Designer to brainstorm ideas for motion graphics.
- Continually enhance expertise by staying abreast of new developments within After Effects technology and related plug-ins.
- Based on direction and information from Director and Editorial Mgmt team about end state, generate artistically unique solutions.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of a pipeline for extensive use of After Effects in production.
- Effectively manage digital assets and deliveries for the animations. This includes tracking of changes made to shots, when they are checked out, and who has made edits to them.
- Produce final versions of projects before being moved along pipeline towards final film production.

Qualifications
- HS Diploma required.
- Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Arts, or equivalent preferred or combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5 + years of graphic design and motion graphic design experience (ideally in a feature film or television/commercial environment).
- Extensive expertise in After Effects, Photoshop, & Illustrator.
- Prior 3D modeling in Maya also a plus.
- Demonstrated illustration and drafting experience in conventional media (i.e., pencil) preferred.
- Excellent detail orientation with demonstrated ability to retain and act on detailed direction.
- Must possess a strong sense of cinematography and staging.
- Strong organizational skills, particularly in handling and tracking multiple source elements.
- Ability to work well within a fast paced, dynamic, deadline oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas in a clear concise manner.
- Ability to work with a team and willingness to take initiative and work independently.

Physical Requirements:
- Continuous use of standard office equipment and materials including computer, mouse, keyboards and phones.
- Frequent to sitting.
- Frequent to use of drawing tools such as pencils.
- Rare to minimal lifting required.
