Gary Noden's review of Maya 8.5 looks at the program's new nCloth feature. See nCloth in action with these two movies: they're in .avi format and require Windows Media Player or VLC for playback.

The project files and screenshots for Soa Lee's ‘Fairytale portrait‘ animation tutorial didn‘t make it onto issue 90‘s CD, due to lack of disc space.

Also missing are the screenshots for Matthew O'Neill's Cinema 4D Q&A and Jeff Wagner's Houdini Q&A, both found in issue 90's Quick Questions section.

April 2007

Project files and screenshots for the 'Watch the birdy' tutorial

The project files and screenshots for Mike de la Flor and Mike Batchelor's animation tutorial didn‘t make it onto issue 89‘s CD, due to an angry puffin in the office. By which we mean lack of disc space. So here they are.

Project files for the 'Toy-tastic!' and 'Electric anime hair' tutorials

The project files for our 'Toy-tastic!' keyframe animation tutorial didn't make it onto issue 86's CD (the reason being lack of disc sp... ah, you're ahead of us). They can be downloaded here (41 MB), while the demo animation for Adam Benton's anime hair tutorial for Cinema 4D can be found here (6 MB).

December 2006
Project files for the RealFlow tutorial

Nobody mention the word ‘DVD’. Again, lack of space prevented us from including the full-sized screenshots and project files for Gustavo Sánchez Pérez’s RealFlow tutorial on the disc, but you can download them here (including XSI scene files: 86.7MB) or here (minus XSI scene files: 44.1MB)

December 2006
Extra files for the Maya and Blender Q&As

Unfortunately, we missed the scene file for Gary Noden’s Maya Q&A on keyframing the growth of a tubular form off the CD: download it here. And no, the numbering of the screenshots for Bassam Kurdali’s Blender Q&A wasn’t intended as an exercise in lateral thinking: we revised the tutorial after the disc had gone to press. An updated set of images with numbering matching those printed in the magazine can be downloaded here

December 2006
Project files for the Lead Q&A on fur in Softimage XSI

Lack of space prevented us from including the full-size screenshots and project files for Ola Madsen’s Q&A on simulating fur on a cartoon-style animal on the issue 84 CD. You can download them as a single zip archive here

Automotive & Concept Design supplement
Scene files for the tutorials

The supplement on Automotive & Concept Design that came free with issue 83 didn't have its own CD, so we have made the project files for the tutorials it contains available for download. The files for Lee Griggs's tutorial on studio lighting can be downloaded here, while the full-sized screenshots for the Trade Secrets article on working with AliasStudio can be downloaded here.

Several of the experts who contributed to our tips piece on creating faster-rendering alternatives to global illumination have provided project files or full-size screenshots corresponding to their images. These can be downloaded here

Scene files for the ‘Devil in the detail’ tutorial

Although the full-size screenshots for Fred Bastide’s tutorial on texturing our demonic cover character can be found on the CD, we were unable to include the project files. These can be downloaded here as one single 35MB Zip archive, or as separate downloads for the base models, texture maps, additional textures and final scene file

Extra file for the 'A quicker splash' tutorial

One of the scene files for David Todman's tutorial on simulating water in LightWave 3D without particles has escaped from the CD. While you can recreate it by importing the LWO file included on the disc, as detailed in the walkthrough, the arrows.lws file can be downloaded here.

To download the archive of images, click here.

August 2006

If you need a hand to complete Bassam Kurdali’s Blender character animation masterclass, scene files corresponding to most of the intermediate steps can be downloaded here. The movie of the completed walk cycle can be downloaded here and the screenshots can be downloaded here.

June and July 2006
