| erm... soft sign and hard sign... kind of hard to explain... they're about pronunciation... for example lets take an 3DS Max word: skew... listen to how it sounds, kind of like sc'you... if it was a russian word, it would have the soft sign. without the soft sign, this word would sound like: scoo (almost like school, without the 'l'). now the hard sign i know nothing about.. it isnt used very often i think... i know only one word where this sign is used... the word 'loh'... (sounds like law but with a hissing 'h' in the end). and the a hard sign is used in this word to emphasise the 'l' letter, so it would sound clear. (im not sure about the last one, from what i gather, the hard sign isn't used very often and isn't shown most of the time...)... i hope it cleares things up a bit... |

| well i never felt the need to look for russian learn websites. but about the soft and hard signs, a soft sign is used to make any letter sond very soft like for example стучать with out it the end of the word would soind like a normal "t" but with it it it would e a bit like "ti" hard signs do the opposite of soft signs cъесть wich means to eat makes the "s" sound very hard as opposed to "si" if you dont use the hard sign then u'll get a word that means to sit down, with a soft "s" hope this help, if you have any more questions please ask ![]() |
