If you have AutoCAD, do you also have Architectural Desktop? If so, open the file in ADT, make sure that you have the model in the following view: isometric and fully shaded (seems to scramble the lines in any other view), export to autocad 2004 format (it goes through 3 save functions so wait for it), this will attach a prefix to your model name of Acad-______, open up max, choose file link manager, select the file, attach the file and I think the last time I did it I used the extrude modifier but I think you can also sweep. I'm taking this from memory but I think that should work.

If you don't have ADT, let me know and I'll figure out how to export directly, although it's very easy with ADT.

Could someone make a tutorial on creating realitic terrain using multi texturing and using alpha layers to paint textures on the terrain?

What kind of textures should be used (would be great if free textures could be used that we can download and explore) both for base layers and blending/alpha layers.

I have seen several examples using C++ or C# to blend and "paint" with alphas, but I'm no programmer and need a artist's approach (if plausable) to achieves this.

Can it be done using 3DS max (or maya) and Photoshop only?

Thanks in advance!
