| Welcome to the zbrush forum Finally another software specific forum, Zbrush has gained a lot of popularity during the last few years and quite a few members of EnjoyCG are also using this application. ![]() If you want to try it out, that's possible because last week a trial version (3.1) has been released so you can have a got at it for free for 30 days. If you have work in progress art post it in the 3d work in progress forum, but if you encounter any problems that are Zbrush specific ask here (in a new thread, obviously.) |

| Re: Welcome to the zbrush forum I've messed around with the pipeline from 3dsmax7 to zbrush3 back to 3dsmax7. Getting the uv maps to work was a little finicky but if you make sure that when you pack your uv maps have enough room away from the from the (how do describe this) square area they get packed into. This help to remove the red markings with overlapping vertexes shown in zbrush when you use uv check. The following steps will help you get a step closer to importing your uv's into zbrush and please anyone that can see a problem do comment. The method i'm using to importing .obj is a method i've seen on the zbrush forum. It works great except my uv's had the smallest problem of red markings, but the solution above solved it. Ok download and install Autodesk's FBX converter. There's a choice of 3, the 2 latest versions crashes Zbrush on me every time when i go to do a UV check. So i've been using FBX® Converter 6. Ok export your model from 3ds max with only Geometries checked under export, as fbx then click ok. Boot up the FBX converter. You've got 3 tabs at the top, select Convert from FBX. Then there's 3 button half way down on the left, click Add. Navigate to where you got your 3dsmax FBX file and open it. Now that you have the file selected you need to select what you want to convert it to. Next to "Change Folder for all..." select "to OBJ" Now you need to select the link appears under the title "Source files" then click "Save as selected". Save the file and click Convert bottom right corner. And thats your OBJ set up with its UV intact. With 3dsmax 2008 the above issue is resolved. The mess doesn't explode if you import and export your obj directly. But make sure you mesh is made of quads only, zbrush doesn't work well with triangles. |
